LED driver touts ±3% current accuracy

Keywords:constant current  LED  driver

Supertex debuts the isolated HV9973 constant current LED driver that is designed for high voltage solid-state lighting applications such as incandescent bulb retrofits. The IC achieves ±3 per cent current accuracy through patented primary side current sensing. Also, it features internal over voltage and short circuit protection.

This sensing approach cuts the need for secondary sensing components, lessening component count, circuit size and cost. It also makes the output current setting insensitive to most component tolerances and parasitic without the need of an opto-coupler feedback.

The driver controls an isolated, flyback topology that meets UL requirements for galvanic isolation and operates from 280-400VDC.

The HV9973 constant current LED driver is available in a RoHS compliant 8-lead SOIC package (HV9973LG-G). Samples are available from stock. Lead-time for production quantities is 4-6 weeks ARO. Pricing is Rs.85.71 ($1.62) each for HV9973LG-G in 1K quantities.
