| 2007-12-03 | Focus on product innovation, not on process Analogue IDMs should focus on product innovation rather than process innovation. Short-term savings on direct wafer costs by using written-off internal fabs are detrimental if they lead to non-competitive products. |
| 2007-12-03 | Analogue IDMs prefer old-fashioned models For the top-tier analogue IDMs, being fab-lite or fabless has never been an objective. The real money for analogue vendors is in parts that push one or more performance parameters to the edge, often on the strength of the underlying process. |
| 2007-12-03 | Is analogue the next fertile frontier for chip outsourcing? Like their digital counterparts, analogue IDMs are looking to outsource select products to cut production costs. Some are also using fabs for select lines if they do not have certain technical capabilities in-house. |
| 2007-11-05 | Is NEC Electronics heading in right direction? Despite outlining its process roadmap, while also expanding its wings in high-k dielectrics, NEC Electronics continues to retrench amid ongoing losses and a "crisis" at the company. |
| 2007-10-11 | Japan chip industry quietly embrace fab lite model As the traditional IDM model remains under pressure, Japan's IC industry is quietly moving towards a fab lite strategy. In fact, Japan is once again mulling over plans to form a national foundry company. |
