What is ZigBee?
A wireless network that can be used for home, building and industrial control with a maximum speed of 250Kbps at 2.4GHz. It is designed for low power so that batteries can last for months, even years. The typical transmission range is around 50m.

What is a microcontroller?
A microcontroller or MCU is a computer-on-a-chip. It is a type of microprocessor dedicated to execute one task (as opposed to general purpose microprocessor), embedded in another device to control the features of that device thus, the name 'embedded controller'.

What is wireless communication?
Wireless communication is the transfer of information over a distance without the use of electrical conductors or "wires." The distances involved may be short (a few metres as in television remote control using infrared light) or long (thousands or millions of kilometres for radio communications).
