Low-loss thin-film inductors deliver 2.6A rated

Article By : TDK

TDK’s TFM160808ALC thin-film inductors have maximum DC resistance of 62mΩ that is 30% lower than existing TFM160808ALM.

With the growing demand for inductors in phone and tablet’s power supply that should have low loss, TDK has leveraged its thin-film technology with its TFM160808ALC inductor.

It features a maximum DC resistance of 62mΩ that is 30% lower than existing types (e.g. TFM160808ALM, 0.47μH). The latest type, measuring 1.6mm x 0.8mm x 0.8mm, offers a high rated current of 2.6A, an inductance of 0.47μH as well as lower losses. As a result, the component's efficiency over a broad output current range of 10mA to 2.5A is higher than that of existing types and can improve the efficiency of DC-DC converter power supplies by nearly 1%.

TDK aims to expand the inductor line-up for power supply circuits to include components with footprints of 2.0mm x 1.6mm and 2.0mm x 1.25mm, making the series suitable for a wider variety of equipment designs.
