Opening an office is part of Morgan's strategy to increase its share of the Indian market for carbon electrical products over the next five years.
To grasp the growing opportunities in India for electrical carbon, machined carbon/graphite and silicon carbide products, Morgan Advanced Materials has established an office in Delhi. The company aims to provide technical and commercial support to customers across the Indian Subcontinent with two dedicated application engineers and an additional customer support assistant.
Morgan has identified vast opportunities to supply its range of materials to sectors including power generation, transportation, industrial and chemical processing. India currently has one of the world’s largest railway networks, comprising of 115,000km of track over a route of 67,312km. This fuels the demand for Morgan’s carbon current collectors designed to meet the need for increased train speed and electrical load in the rail industry.
Elsewhere, India’s large population of power plants provides opportunity for Morgan to supply its NCC 634 brush that is designed to achieve improved reliability in turbo alternator applications. It also offers power hub slip rings into India’s wind power sector. Further opportunities exist for Morgan to supply carbon/graphite and silicon carbide components into the chemicals industry for demanding seal applications and for electric vacuum pumps in the automotive sector.
The opening of the office is the first stage of a wider strategy that will see Morgan’s goal to increase its share of the Indian market for carbon electrical products over the next five years. It also plans to expand its offering even further surrounding geographies.
