Tool upgrades boost PCB design process efficiency

Altium Designer 17 offers PCB layout design with guided routing technology, while Altium Vault 3.0 offers more control over data management workflow.
Altium is rolling out a new PCB design as well as data management technologies, the Altium Designer 17 and Altium Vault 3.0, in November as a free upgrade to all Altium subscription customers.
Geared towards strengthening the efficiency of electronics design process, Altium Designer 17 features ActiveRoute, which allows an engineer to design printed circuit board layouts with guided routing technology. It also features dynamic copper, which allows engineers to save time with the ability to easily modify copper polygon shapes on PCBs, while back drilling allows engineers to reduce signal integrity disturbances on high-speed designs with complete control over drill hole specifications.
Altium Vault 3.0, on the other hand, allows engineers to gain more control over their data management workflow. It features the Streamlined Project Releaser, which enables an engineer to easily add verified project snapshots with included design variants for fabrication and assembly; Customised Item Manager Automatching, which allows engineers to quickly synchronise projects and define parameters to update unmanaged assets with verified design data; and Expand Templates, which allows engineers to keep their design projects standardised with templates for projects, Draftsman, scripts and bill of materials reports.
Altium is offering a free trial for Altium Designer 17 and Altium Vault 3.0.
