Designed for compute-intensive applications, HBM-enabled 16nm Virtex UltraScale FPGAs offer high bandwidth memory 20 times regular demand.
Xilinx has announced its FPGAs, the 16nm Virtex UltraScale FPGAs that offer high bandwidth memory as well as HBM and CCIX technology.
The company claims the HBM-enabled FPGAs offer 20 times higher memory bandwidth than a DDR4 DIMM and four times less power per bit than typical memory technologies.
The devices are designed to support memory needs of compute-intensive applications like machine learning, Ethernet connectivity, 8K video and radar. They also contain CCIX IP, enabling cache-coherent acceleration to any CCIX-enabled processor.
Based on the 16nm Virtex UltraScale+ FPGA family, the Virtex UltraScale+ products offer low-risk approach to HBM integration. The family is built using third-generation CoWoS technology, which was co-developed by TSMC and Xilinx and is now used in standard assembly.
